INTERN IN CONGRESS

College to Congress creates pathways for students to intern in Congress who otherwise could not afford to do so. By empowering the next generation of passionate young leaders (you!) to kick-start their careers in public service, we get one step closer to creating a Congress that is truly reflective of America. Your journey to a career in public service starts here.

College to Congress wants to help you land your dream internship in Congress and give you the means to make it happen. We fully cover costs associated with interning in DC, including meals, flights to/from DC, housing, and even professional clothing. In addition, we provide professional development seminars to prepare our students to excel during their internships and beyond. Some of these sessions are accessible on C2C-U! After graduation, College to Congress helps our interns secure full-time jobs on Capitol Hill and in public service in order to create sustainable change in Congress. In doing so, we help make Congress more reflective of the people it serves!

APPLICANTS MUST:

• Be a Pell Grant recipient

• Be a current junior or senior in college (at the time of applying) or be a recent graduate or graduate student

• Commit to living and working in Washington, DC during program dates: May 30th - July 30th (8 weeks)

• Commit to training and participating in College to Congress Programming while interning in Congress full-time

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must have a general familiarity with the federal legislative process and U.S. Congress

Note: Upon acceptance, interns must stay in provided C2C housing for the duration of the program. All interns must take part in the program full-time upon acceptance and are not permitted to take outside courses or partake in any employment that interferes with their internship commitment. Interns must be eligible to work in the United States.

---

All members of our cohort must complete "Getting a Congressional Internship 101" coursework on College to Congress University (C2C-U), which can be found on our website. This is a great FREE online program to help you create a Hill-ready resume, leverage your LinkedIn network, and more. Upon completion, all C2C-U alumni have access to our mentorship portal, job board, and LinkedIn group--all of which are designed to help you land a Congressional internship.

If you haven't yet completed C2C-U yet, don't worry! The deadline for completion of our 101 course, if you would like to be a part of our 2023 Summer Cohort, is Sunday, January 8th, 2023. We will be requiring proof of completion before offering acceptance, so get started today!
